Learn how to use the Flight Planner to discover destinations within your flying range

Quick Start Guide

    Set Your Home Base

    First, set your home airport or base location. This will be saved for future use.

    If no home airport is set, you'll get a popup to select a home.

    To change your home airport, click on the Gear icon go adjust settings.

    Select Your Search Area

    Click anywhere on the map to set your search center, or use the search bar to find a location.

    As soon as you click, all of the local airports around the pin will be marked.

    Choose Your Destination Type

    Select what kind of destination you're looking for from the dropdown menu.

    From the search card you can select your point of interest and the search radius. The results will be marked in red.

Range Rings

Three concentric circles show your 50nm, 100nm, and 200nm range from your home base.

If you register for a user account, you can customize your range rings.

Search Range

Set minimum and maximum distances to find destinations within your preferred flying range.

Destination Categories

Filter destinations by type: airports, restaurants, golf courses, parks, and more.

More categories will be added and feel free to recommend any you would like!

Save Your Home Location

Your home base location is automatically saved in your browser for future visits.

Use the Search Bar

The search bar can find specific locations, cities, or landmarks to center your search around.

Combine Search Criteria

Use both distance filters and categories together to find exactly what you're looking for.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate are the distance calculations?

Distances are calculated using great circle routes and are shown in nautical miles. They represent direct distances and don't account for airways or routing requirements.

Can I save multiple locations?

Currently, you can save one home base location. You can change it anytime by using the settings menu.

What destinations are included in the search?

Our database includes airports, restaurants, golf courses, parks, beaches, and other points of interest that are popular with pilots.

Do I need to create an account?

No account is required to use the Flight Planner. Your home location is saved in your browser locally.
